Nashville

A late start this morning after the fun of last night. We missed breakfast at the hotel so set off in search of a cafe. There was only one in Nashville, it seems, with the line of hungry hopefuls stretched around the corner, in the rain.

We wandered on and settled for burgers at the Hardrock Cafe on Broadway.

One interesting phenomenon is the Cycle Bars - strange contraptions with 10 or so seats with pedals, facing in towards a bar, with a roof, and full of ladies with seatbelts on, drinking as they pedal their way around the town. In the rain.

The rainy streets were quiet, with businesses just starting to prepare for the day's trade. A few boot shops caught our attention, but no sale.

We had planned to visit the Country Music Hall of Fame, but on arrival saw the ticket line stretch about 200 people long and changed our minds. Obviously a rainy, long weekend Saturday was not the smartest day to try to see the most popular museum in Tennessee.  We checked out the gift shop instead.

Retrieving the car from the hotel, we drove to The Gulch, a cool restaurant and shopping district adjacent to downtown. Lucchese has a shop here, filled with beautiful boots and clothes. The price range for these boots is between $400 and $5000!

We drove down the lovely, tree lined, 12th Street South towards a shopping mall, and enjoyed the look of the groovy restaurants and bars so much that we stopped on the way back for an early dinner of barbecue, which was excellent.
