Cigar store Indian
Cuban sandwiches were on our list of things to try after seeing the movie 'Chef', so I googled 'best Cuban sandwiches in Key Largo' and came up with Dennys Latin Cafe.
The cafe was an authentic Spanish diner, seemingly unchanged since 1950. Spanish is defintely the first language in these parts and had I known any, I might have understood that one Cuban sandwhich each was too much food! They were very tasty - ham and amazing pulled pork, together with pickles, cheese and mustard, toasted. Done!
South from Key Largo is just one road through the keys. Sometimes joined by majestic bridges and sometimes by a thin sand isthmus.
The ocean is a beautiful light aqua in colour, and there were boats and fishermen aplenty. There were many dive schools/shops/tour centres along the way, and vertical boat storage facilities.
We arrived at The Southernmost Inn in Key West by late afternoon, and took a stroll around the area. The number of people and the types of shops and bars along Duval Street remind me of Bourbon Street in New Orleans, albeit a little more relaxed and well behaved.
