It's a beautiful, warm, blue sky day in Brisbane town as we await departure of our Virgin Australia flight to LA. We're travelling straight through to New York to begin our next USA adventure - driving the Cannon Ball Run from New York to LA, sea to shining sea.
We have just over three weeks, with some flexibility of route, especially towards the west coast. The current plan is New York, Washington, Kentucky, Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, Houston, Austin, Tucson, Palm Springs and LA.
Check in was a breeze, and immigration formalities swift. It's so much easier to navigate international travel with high grade loyalty cards. Dedicated lines, express passes, free lounge access.
We used the valet parking here at the International terminal. Ground floor, staffed 24 hours, $60 more than park-it-yourself. Easy.
Brisbane International departure lounge is undergoing serious renovation, causing a little congestion in the remaining areas.
There's a good looking new restaurant/bar called Windmill & Co, positioned along the windows, with a great view of the runway for plane geeks, and the rest of the works look promising.
See you on the other side.
